Public Grid Evaluations – About Our Program
The Public Grid Evaluations program is designed to reduce strain on the electrical grid by converting qualifying homeowners to lower demand systems at no cost to them. This helps prevent outages and reduces the risk of fires caused by overloaded infrastructure.
Participation in Public Grid Evaluations is open to homeowners who meet key criteria designed to maximize the program’s effectiveness and ensure a smooth installation.
A. Eligibility Requirements
To qualify, all of the following must apply:
-
Property is located within an eligible ZIP code (designated High Grid-Strain Zone, often overlapping with CAL FIRE’s High Fire Hazard Severity Zones).
https://osfm.fire.ca.gov/fhsz/ -
You own your home and it serves as your primary residence.
-
The home’s electrical system is in safe working condition.
-
Your roof is in good condition (no major leaks or obstructions) with adequate sun exposure.
-
The household has a minimum level of electricity usage to ensure benefits to both the homeowner and the grid.
Our team will perform a free evaluation to confirm eligibility and system fit.
B. Participation Incentives
By participating in the program, you become a vital part of California’s energy solution. Homeowners selected enjoy significant benefits, including:
-
$0 Out-of-Pocket Cost – All equipment, installation, and permitting fees are covered through state and federal energy resilience funding. You pay nothing for your solar panels, battery, or the work done on your home.

Immediate Bill Reduction – Once activated, your solar panels will generate clean electricity for your home, dramatically reducing (or even eliminating) your monthly utility bill. Any excess energy you produce earns credits under California’s net metering policy.
-
Backup Power Protection – During grid outages or Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) events, your home’s battery will keep essential power on.

Increased Home Value – Adding a solar + storage system can boost your property’s value and appeal. Homes with advanced energy systems often sell at a premium.
-
Community Leadership – Every participating homeowner is helping prevent blackouts and improve public safety. Your home becomes a model of resilience – part of an official network of “resilient homes” contributing to the stability of our local grid.
C. Our Approach
We don’t sell – we select.
Public Grid Evaluations is a state-backed initiative focused on grid safety, wildfire risk reduction, and community resilience. Using advanced analytics and statewide data, we identify the homes and neighborhoods that can deliver the greatest benefit to the grid.
Selected homes receive fully funded solar + battery systems, strengthening both individual energy independence and community stability.
